Introduction
The Rackman Center respects the privacy of the users of its website and is committed to protecting the personal information collected in the course of its activity. This Privacy Notice supplements the general privacy policy of Bar-Ilan University (henceforth: “the University“) and is intended to address aspects unique to the website of the Ruth and Emanuel Rackman Center for the Advancement of the Status of Women (henceforth: “the Center“), such as the types of information gathered from the individuals who contact the Center —whether via the website or by other means—and the purposes for which this information is used.
Consent
When contacting the Center, you express your consent to the terms of this Privacy Notice, as well as to the general privacy policy terms of the University. Please note that some of the services offered on the website require the submission of personal information, such as contact details and the like. We wish to clarify that you are not legally obligated to provide this information, and its submission depends on your free will and your consent to use the website.
We invite you to read this Privacy Notice and the general privacy policy of the University carefully. If you do not agree to them, you must refrain from using the website any further. In such a case, we shall not be able to provide you with the services offered within the framework of the website.
In addition to the University’s general privacy policy, we collect information provided directly by those who contact us. When reaching out to the Center through the website—such as by filling out “Contact Us” forms to receive legal or emotional support, or contacting us regarding any other matter—you may be asked to supply identifying personal information. This information may include details such as your full name, email address, phone number, and the subject or nature of your request. In the framework of these contacts, individuals may choose, at their own discretion, to share additional information, including sensitive details about their personal, legal, or emotional situation. Supplying this information is voluntary; however, without certain details, we may not be able to provide the requested service or response.
Additionally, anyone may choose to join the Center’s newsletter and receive updates regarding its activities. In any case, it is possible to unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time.
Purposes of Use
As a service provider, we collect and use information for the purpose of affording support services and responding to inquiries—that is, in order to contact those who reach out to us and to supply the requested assistance or information. For example, this includes coordinating initial legal consultations via the helpline, arranging emotional support, answering questions through the maintenance calculator, or registering for events and activities organized by the Center.
Additionally, we use information after it has undergone anonymization processes (removal of identifying details according to accepted standards) for research and statistical purposes. Among others, this includes information regarding the dynamics of divorce disputes, get refusal (refusal to grant a Jewish bill of divorce), violence against women, treatment methods, positive outcomes in certain cases, and so on—all as part of the Center’s central mission to advance women’s status in family law and to put an end to gender discrimination and inequality in Israeli society.
Data Retention
Personal information collected about you is stored in the Center’s databases for as long as needed to achieve the purposes described above, or in accordance with relevant legal and regulatory standards.
