A glimpse into the exciting and fascinating evening we had yesterday with the opening of the Tager International Conference: Feminism in the Abrahamic Religions.
We opened with greetings and introductory remarks from Prof. Arie Zaban, President of Bar-Ilan University, Mrs. Esther Tager, Prof. Ruth Halperin-Kaddari, Academic Director of the Rackman Center, Faculty of Law, Bar-Ilan University, Prof. Rivka Tuval-Mashiach, Head of the Gender Studies Program, Bar-Ilan University, Ora Limor, Center for the Study of Relations between Jews, Christians and Muslims, The Open University of Israel and Dr. Ronit Irshai, Gender Studies Program, Bar – Ilan Univerity.
Next, a unique opportunity to hear from three leading international scholars, a fascinating session on Feminism in the Abrahamic Religions – The Founding Mothers, which presented the three perspectives, the Jewish, the Christian and the Muslim by Prof. Elisabeth Scussler Fiorenza, Prof. Tamar Ross and Prof. amina wadud.
We concluded the first evening of the conference with the extraordinary online exhibition “Body Text: Feminist Art in Diverse Religio-Cultural Spheres in Israel”. Dr. Ronit Irshai moderated a multi-participant discussion between the exhibition curators Nurit Jacobs-Yinon and Dr. David Sperber and the artists Andy Arnovitz, Doris Hakim and Yara Mahajena.
