Oppose the Istanbul convention? You don’t care when women are abused – an article by Ruth Halperin-Kaddari and Lea Geoppinger-Levy

Prof. Ruth Halperin-Kaddari and Lea Geoppinger-Levy from The Rackman Center, claim, in an article published on The Jerusalem Post, that : “Signing the (Istanbul) Convention will bring Israel a major step closer to eradicating gender violence and will protect thousands of women and children”.

In answer to the local opponents to the convention, including Minister of the Interior Ayelet Shaked who, as minister of justice until 2019, was committed to signing the Istanbul Convention they say that: “Signing the Convention poses absolutely no danger to Israel. Failing to complete the process, at this stage, will be a major international embarrassment and a missed historical opportunity to protect thousands of Israeli women and children for years to come”.
