rs under physical violence from her husband. Later on, he was arrested and convicted of sexually assaulting her daughter and two other young relatives. However, even after she filed for divorce, her case did not move forward for an entire year. As a result, Rivka turned to the Rackman Center for help
Once our team took the case, progress began immediately. After only one hearing, the rabbinical court ruled that the husband must give her a Get. However, he refused and demanded money and permission to see the children. In response, our legal team firmly opposed every condition
Eventually, the court accepted our position in full. Therefore, it ordered the husband to be imprisoned as a Get refuser, and his criminal sentence was paused until he complied. Within seven days, he gave Rivka her Get without any conditions
Today, he continues to seek contact with the children. However, we strongly oppose this request, together with the rabbinical court and the welfare authorities. Moreover, the caseled by Attorney Shai Zilberberg shows the Rackman Center’s deep commitment to protecting women and ensuring justice
Consequently, we are grateful that Rivka begins the New Year as a free woman
